Nowadays, an outdoor living room is often the extension of our home. So, materials that can be use should complement the interior design of the house. It would be best if you will create a good transition between the interior and exterior design of your house to create a good flow.
For flooring, I would suggest to use a material that is slip-resistant especially if there’s a concrete and natural stones around to prevent accidents that could harm your family especially if you have kids.
For an entertaining backyard living room, a path of lawn can also create a good look to feel the nature’s presence but if there’s a lack of room, it would be better to just use a synthetic grass that could still feel like a real deal. Beware if you have pets because it’s hard to remove the smell of a pet toilet from these synthetic lawns. For furniture, you need to think for a lot of factors such as: if its an open or covered area, if you have huge spaces for big furniture and if furniture can’t be damaged due to changes in weather conditions, etc.
For open areas, it’s best if you will use wooden furniture or anything that can’t be easily damaged when it rains. Obviously, we need to avoid fabrics and soft cloths especially for sofas. Also, use small furniture if you think visitors or even your own family would not be comfortable anymore if there’s lack of pathways or spaces in between each furniture.
When you’re planning a renovation for outdoor living room, you should consider its appearance and how should it look like when viewed from the street or viewed beyond your gate bars. In planning, you should not only consider what you want like entertaining zone for your visitors and friends, kid’s comfortable area and a cosy-look place but you should also consider all the things that may impact your renovation.
